I am one of the 15 women from MOMS Session XV that took place in the winter of 2001.
Since joining this parish in the summer of 1995, it seems like there has always been something about MOMS in the bulletin. Yet when I found myself in the Family Room at the first session on that cold January night staring at the faces of 17 other women, most of whom I did not recognize I had no clue why I was there. I just knew that I had been called to be part of this group and I was exactly where I needed to be.
I didnt realize how much my prayer life and my own personal spirituality had taken a back seat to being a wife and working mom with a mortgage and aging parents until I went through those enriching two months. After each session I came home renewed and full of wonderment at the opportunity Our Lord had given me. I also realized that I need to develop my relationship with Our Lord on a daily basis before taking on the roles of wife, mother, daughter, and mortgage maker. The best part about it is that it doesnt take away from the other roles. It makes them better.
Not only did I learn a lot about my own prayer life and spirituality during that two month period, I also learned a lot about St. Geralds and all the opportunities that our parish has to offer our parishioners.
Whenever I talk to someone about my involvement with St. Geralds I always promote MOMS. Those two months I spent in the winter of 2001 were only the beginning of a life long journey that has brought me closer to Our Lord and a more active and involved member of this parish.

MOMS is offering a 3-hour, womens retreat entitled "Choice-making". During this retreat you will receive an experience of prayer with time to reflect on Gods grace as you make choices and an opportunity to establish connections with other Christ-centered women. The retreat will be scheduled for a Saturday morning from 8:30-11:30 at the Churchs 96th & Q Family Room. Cost is $13.00. This registration will remain open until a group of 8-12 women can be arranged.
